Location
Sanremo is one of the most important tourist centres of Liguria and owes its fame to the Casino and to the Sanremo Music Festival (Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo). It was discovered by international tourism in the second half of the 19th century. The last few years have seen a revival of tourism thanks also to the brand new cycle path, one of the longest in Europe, which runs along the coast to San Lorenzo al Mare. Other places of interest within easy reach are Arma di Taggia, a seaside town rich in tourist attractions, nightclubs and restaurants, Triora with its magnificent medieval borgo, Badalucco, famous for its oil and its murals, Ceriana, with its evocative carruggi (narrow alleyways) and Bussana Vecchia with its International Artists Village.
